Goodwill find

I got an AG from the Goodwill today. She is an AGOT brunette with brown eyes, looks very much like Samantha but the hair is styled like an AGOT. She even has a clear artist mark on the back of her head. I probably paid too much but my biggest weakness if SAVING any pre-loved AG doll I find! Besides, she was clean and in good shape!
My question (and I have not learned how to put up photos on here yet) is about what she was wearing.
She has on a red long sleeve shirt marked 1995 American Girl tag, light blue denim jeans with black thin belt, yellow socks and black high top sneakers. Black belt has white stitching and matches sneakers.
Jeans and top are tagged AG and dated 1995. Shoes still have gold AG stickers on bottoms. There was also a black hair scrunchy.
IS this a complete set? Do the yellow socks go with this? Yellow socks are not marked but they are AG brand, I can tell that!
I have a feeling it is missing something yellow to match those socks!
What can you tell me about my new ensemble?

That's the Blue Jean Basics Outfit from 1995. It retired a few years later. It came with blue jeans, a red shirt, yellow socks and black and white high-top tennies.

Edited to add: And the belt! Sounds like you got a complete outfit, except I think it might have come with a red scrunchine (not a black one).

I got a AGT #13(sounds the same as yours) at a resale shop in great condition, also. I didn't have her on my wish list, but I fell in love with her quickly. Love the Autumn coloring of the doll! forums

The pants, socks, shoes, and belt are from the Blue Jean Basics set, but red shirt that came with my version has short sleeves. I can't find any other outfit with a LS red shirt, so I wonder if they made two versions of the shirt. The yellow socks DO go with the set; they don't match anything. Back when that outfit was made it was common to wear many bold colors together that didn't have to match. The retired purple varsity jacket and cap set were made to compliment this outfit.

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for her?

Also, have you visited Curt's site? It is one of the best online resources for identifying retired items.

I'm sorry, the shirt is SHORT sleeved! You are correct.
I paid 55.00. BUt I feel that the doll alone (new) woul dhave cost me 84.00 and the fashion probably sold for 25 or more. So original retail would have been 109.00 so I got a pretty good deal I think.
Upone cleaning the doll and brushing her hair out I did discover she was a Samantha and not an AGOT, the hair has a different feel and is wavy and was just itching to go back into the little ponytail in top/back.

The surefire way to tell Samantha from an AGT doll when you can't by the hair, is the eyes. AGT's have irises that make a sunburst/spiral away from the pupil which is very fake looking. Samantha's eyes are more realistic, and have a random splotchiness that radiates from the pupil.
